Why Does The Media Find it so Hard to Find Fault in Democrats?

In the latest installment of local Mainstream Media covering for the failures of legislative Democrats, the editorial board at The (Tacoma) News Tribune must have thrown out the backs of its collective members, contorting into moral equivalence the Democrats’ failure to allow a vote on restoring the legislature to a co-equal branch of government with the Republicans’ using a standard parliamentary tool to ask for just such a vote.

That’s right, lefties on the editorial board – which claims to support reforming the extreme “emergency powers” given the to the executive branch in Washington State – condemns Republicans for continuing an effort that began before the session to restore the balance of power in Olympia.

What it comes down to is that Democrats are afraid of … themselves. The GOP would merely require that a majority of the legislature vote to continue a governor’s emergency order beyond 60 days.

That’s it. Democrats don’t even want the responsibility of voting once every other month to keep one person in charge of the state. They would rather that Uncle Jay keep taking whatever heat is generated by the neutered press that exists in Olympia.

And even worse, the media doesn’t want you to know about this failure. After all, it’s the dastardly Republicans who are trying to “cut corners” to allow a vote on a bill the Democrats are quite content to ignore.

The editorial board naively claims that a “long-term impasse is unacceptable.”  Yet, by claiming that both sides are at fault in this “debate”, the paper is clearly siding with the side that wants to keep the public in the dark and the legislature out of the legislating business.
