WA Democrats pass “resolution” against charter schools

The 36th District Democrats passed a “resolution” stating their support for the state Supreme Court’s ruling against charter schools this week. The resolution serves as more proof of Democrats’ true priority: special interests rather than education.

The 36th District Democrats’ resolution should come as no surprise. They are taking their cue from their party leader. Jay Inslee did not support the 2012 charter school initiative—he was and remains indebted to the Washington Education Association (WEA), a union that put $1 million into electing him in 2012.

Our green governor continues to prove his commitment to the WEA by refusing to call a special legislative session to resolve the problem created by the court’s decision.

Meanwhile, the WEA is still celebrating the court’s decision as a years-in-the-making victory. The WEA’s began its fight to prevent underprivileged children from the choice of attending schools that work when it contributed the maximum amount to the campaigns of four out of the six justices who ruled against charter schools.

For what it’s worth, WEA executives can now rest assured that they have the 36th District Democrats to celebrate with them.
