Among all registered voters, 48% in the survey said they’d like the election to produce a Democratic-led Congress, compared to 43% who want the GOP to be in control.

Mr. Obama’s own job performance is one element of his party’s weakness. His approval ratings are at or near all-time lows, and many endangered House and Senate Democrats have no interest in having him stump for them.
