Democrats in the state House have changed plans for the release of their 2015-17 operating budget proposal. The House budget will be released tomorrow morning, as scheduled. However, the public hearing in the House Appropriations Committee has been pushed back to Monday, March 30, at 1:30 p.m. The budget is tentatively scheduled for a floor vote in the House on Thursday, April 2.
The change of plans is due to pressure placed on Democrat Reps. Frank Chopp and Ross Hunter to allow the public – and maybe a few of the Democrat members expected to vote for it – time to actually read the budget before a vote.
Unfortunately, because House Democrats failed to meet the widely publicized March 23rd deadline to release a budget, the Legislature now a week closer to going into extra session(s).
