Democrat House Majority Leader Pat Sullivan was asked if the House would vote on bills to raise taxes this week to cover the spending the House proposed in its budget last Friday. He admitted, “No, they will not.”
Last week, Sullivan called the House budget “courageous.” Unfortunately, House Democrats cannot muster the political courage to vote on their tax proposals to pay for their plan to increase state spending by 15% over the current budget.
Sullivan and the House Democrats have decided to play a game of political chicken by ignoring the suggestion provided by the lead budget in the State Senate, Ways and Means Committee Chair Andy Hill, that a complete budget includes both the desired spending and a revenue package to pay for that spending. After the budget release on Friday, Hill reminded House Democrats that a complete budget requires them to balance their proposed spending with revenue. He stated, “It would be irresponsible to send a budget to the Senate that does not balance over the next two years much less over the four years required by law.”

But what’s new? We haven’t had a balanced budget…required by law…for many years.

Ballance the budget? Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, will never change. Tax & Spend is who they are.
