The latest development in the race we like to call the (McDermott) Hunger Games favors far-Left State Senator Pramila Jayapal — someone who doesn’t actually live in the congressional district she wants to represent. This week, Jayapal won the sole endorsement of the Washington State Labor Council.
The other two leading lefty candidates — State Representative Brady Walkinshaw and King County Council member Joe McDermott — were not as lucky.
Walkinshaw failed to receive the sole endorsement of the 46th Legislative District Democrats by one vote. So, he’ll have to settle for a dual endorsement with Jayapal. For what it’s worth, Walkinshaw did secure the endorsement of the King County Young Democrats.
Joe McDermott hasn’t had the best week. He was ousted after the first round at the 46th Legislative District Democrats meeting.
Luckily for Joe McDermott, he just so happens to share the same last name with the outgoing Congressman. Given the sheer number of low information voters in Seattle, that coincidence should be enough to give him a good shot at surviving the primary.
But that part of the Hunger Games is yet to be played.
