Let’s quickly review what Jay Inslee’s campaign for President is costing Washington taxpayers and our state’s financial health:
- In appealing to the anti-business sentiment within the national Democrat activists, Inslee went on national TV and proclaimed Boeing committed blackmail (a felony) and then compared them to “muggers” (another felony) whenthe large employer negotiated with him over tax incentives. Why would Boeing create any more Washington state jobs when the Governor tells a national audience that they are criminals simply for negotiating???
- Inslee’s presidential campaign is being subsidized by the Washington state taxpayers for the $4 million we are paying for his 24/7 security detail. Inslee’s defense for taking this taxpayer money is that he is “just following the law.” Yet his job for the past 6 years has been to fix bad Washington state laws. Did Inslee not think that having Washington taxpayers subsidizing political campaigns was a bad law or is he just ineffective in doing his job? No other Democrat presidential aspirant has this level of taxpayer funded security, but Jay Inslee does. And we are paying for it.
- To garner support from the very wealthy government employee unions, Inslee and his Democratic legislative passed 2.5 billion in new permanent taxes during the 2019 legislative session. Even though current revenue was enough to fund government programs.
- To attract attention from extreme environmental groups and contributors, Inslee flip-flopped his previous support for natural gas and methanol plants in Tacoma and Kalama. Thus, Inslee sacrificed hundreds of jobs in Southwest Washington and Pierce County to garner support for his attempt to obtain one job for himself. Not really the textbook definition of “leadership.”
Jay Inslee’s campaign for President is costing each Washington taxpayer hundreds of dollars and will cost the state thousands of jobs (and the tax revenue private sector employment creates). Is it any wonder Inslee’s campaign is having to battle Biden, Sanders, Warren and others just to attract support in his home state?
