President Barack Obama promised hope and change, but according to new polls even Democrats – especially those running for the U.S. Senate – need “hope” to “change” who will be coming to their rescue in the last two months of the campaign – because the President is dragging them down.
With a CNN poll showing disproval ratings of as high as 64% and a NBC poll showing that 62% of Democrats do not approve of Obama, it is hard to see how the once sought-after fundraiser could possibly help his party members in races. With Senate Democratic strategists admitting they have “known that Obama wasn’t going to be a huge positive – or a positive at all – in many of their key races“, it seems as if the party’s hope for change is that Obama will step out of the spotlight before he damages those vying for a spot in elections today.
With the approval ratings so low, it is a wonder how the Democrats will be able to stand behind the Obama administration policies as they look to build political agendas for both their races and his remaining years in office. With the administration’s continued bungling of the ISIS crisis – comparing the terrorist organization to a JV team and the ongoing failures of Obamacare, it seems as if the party has finally turned their back on this once beloved leader.
The Senate Democrats now “simply need to wait and hope that Obama’s numbers in 57 days time don’t look like they do today” to discover if Obama will ruin their chances of holding on to the Senate.
