There is more bad news straight out of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). According to reports, a contracted WSDOT customer service employee used her position to obtain the credit card information of several Good To Go customers.
Though the credit card breach occurred in 2013, the facts are just now coming to light. Via King 5,
“WSDOT said they only learned after the breach after the secret service alerted them to an investigation.
“A criminal investigation revealed that the employee who worked for ‘Electronic Transaction Consultants’ had stolen 13 customers’ credit card information.”
Electronic Transaction Consultants had access to about 500 people’s account information. WSDOT officials are reevaluating security procedures for employees. Of course, there are many other policies and procedures WSDOT officials will have to reevaluate in the near future.
