Homelessness is a problem in Seattle and other urban areas across the state and country. Certainly, it’s a problem that must be addressed through proven, effective means.
Unfortunately, liberal politicians in Seattle have decided to make the problem of homelessness an opportunity for them to push their pricey, bizarre, far-Left ideological agenda. Adding insult to injury, the “solutions” pushed by these liberals only threaten to make the problem worse.
As Shift reported, a far-Left commission in Seattle recently issued the ridiculous recommendation to allow “safe consumption sites” for homeless individuals to “legally get drunk or high in public without fear of arrest.” Of course, the bizarre policy completely ignores the real problem of drug abuse and/or addiction that all too often keeps homeless people on the street.
The proposal seemed to cap the ridiculousness of it all, leaving little to no faith in what Seattle liberals pushed as “solutions” to homelessness. But, if you thought you heard it all, you would be wrong.
Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has announced a new position in city government, Director of Homelessness. The so-called Director of Homelessness will make a whopping $160,000 a year.
As conservative talk radio host Todd Herman points out, the new position’s title is the perfect bit of irony. You see, given the fact that the city is intent on subsidizing the behaviors that lead to homelessness, the new position will help “direct” homelessness into Seattle.
Ladies and gentlemen, the senselessness of Seattle liberals on display for the world to see.

Based on experience, I think it unlikely that this new Homeless Czar position will have much of an impact on the number of homeless people we see on the street. Seattle should not be doling out more money right now. Instead they should be taking a harder look at who’s been cheating the system. In this article from my blog, I detail how a local housing non-profit that takes in over a million dollars a year – most of it from the taxpayers – won $50,000 worth of undeserved property tax exemptions for a millionaire property owner.

Thank you God for putting a montain range between us and those knuckleheads in Seattle.
Clay Fitzgerald says
Unfortunately, that mountain range isn’t high enough to keep the idiocy that stems from Olympia, and highly influenced by liberal politicians from Seattle and King County, and the bureaucracy that permanently resides in the capital, from wreaking havoc on you dry-siders.
