The Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) released a video celebrating Jay Inslee’s signing of the new state employee contracts that will increase pay. The video wraps-up with the following statement from WFSE President Sue Hendricksen:
““We got our contracts signed. We’ve got our raises for the next two years. But the work’s not done yet. We’ve got a lot more work to do … And we need to get a revenue package so we can get funding for all of our contracts. So the battle is not over yet. It continues. And this union will continue to fight for better working conditions, better raises, better health care services and better services for our public.”
Notice Hendricksen promises to “get a revenue package so we can get funding for all of our contracts.” That means WFSE is not satisfied with even the pay raises it received this legislative session. The union, apparently, wants Washington families to fork over more of their hard earned dollars via a tax increase in order to fund higher pay raises.
The new union motto – “Higher taxes for you means higher pay for us!”
