Despite the political risk, President Obama is moving forward with his plans for heavy environmental regulations. The Hill,
“With time running out on President Obama’s second term, federal agencies are hitting the gas on a number of regulatory initiatives that are central to the White House’s “go-it-alone” agenda…
“Obama’s regulatory push is having a notable impact on Kentucky’s Senate race, where Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) is using the Environmental Protection Agency’s controversial climate rule against his opponent Alison Grimes, a Democrat…
“But Obama isn’t “backing away” from the EPA’s climate rule, said Ronald White, regulatory policy director at the left-leaning Center for Effective Government — or for that matter, from the EPA’s waters rule, which is just as controversial…
“The EPA says the water regulation is needed to clarify ambiguity in the law, while critics say it would give federal regulators expansive powers over the small bodies of water such as those found on many farms.”

How dare the President try to address climate change and clean water! I want dirty water, even if what happens in Toledo Ohio will happen here. And climate change, who cares about it? It’s not my problem. I want pollution and profits!! Way to go Shift WA!

It will be hard to reproduce the Toledo situation here unless the USFS leases all the land around Chester Morse Lake to a Cargill and they start growing crops on it. Given that SPU won’t even let you hike in the area, it’s hard to believe that will be happening anytime soon.
From the Washington Trails website for a trail to Rattlesnake Lake…”The first part of the trail borders the Cedar River Watershed (a City of
Seattle drinking water source,) and frequent signs threaten dire
consequences to any who trespass there.”
Bernie says
Oh and Mitch McConnell said he would defund the Clean Water Act if he wins! Yep, the water that comes out of my tap is done by magic! Who needs the damn gubment to step and set health based standards. Santa Claus is responsible for my clean water and there’s no such thing a drought or toxins ever leaking into my water supply. Let’s get rid of the Clean Air Act too while we’re at it! Clean air is for sissies.

No confidence in your State’s Office of Drinking Water? From their website… “Our mission is to protect the health of the people of Washington by ensuring safe and reliable drinking water. More than 5.5 million Washington residents get their drinking water from a Group A or Group B public water system.” [which they regulate]
