The Daily Shift – September 15, 2016

The fall campaign is heating up, but Jay Inslee is doing his darndest to make sure that Washington’s economy doesn’t do the same, as Shift lets you know that today our green governor finalized his so-called “carbon rule” to make our state’s businesses less competitive. Inslee had to jam through an executive action so he could claim he was doing something about climate change, since Democrats – and Republicans – in the legislature have been unwilling to approve any of the extreme tax increase measures he has introduced during his first term in office (anyone remember how Democrats ran away from his cap and trade idea?).

In other embarrassing Democrat news, the Seattle law firm Perkins Coie has been pulled into the Democrat National Committee’s email hacking scandal, with one of its lawyers appearing to be part of a “pay to play” scheme between party donors and the U.S. State Department. In other legal news covered today, a judge in Thurston County has helped out those pushing an income tax in the city of Olympia, by taking the words “income tax” out of an initiative on the ballot this fall which would create … an income tax.

And speaking of redundancy, yet another Democrat legislator in the First Legislative District is expressing reservations about their Democrat candidate, and praising the Republican, in the race. Now that’s something you don’t see repeated too often.
