The Daily Shift – October 05, 2016

Hump day finds the Shift team playing catch-up, and finding plenty of (hopefully) interesting items for our readers. We lead with a feature on the intra-mural battle of the “greens”, with the internal battles of the state’s Sierra Club chapter being played out in the media over the bad policy that is Initiative 732. Nothing like liberals fighting with each other over who can raise taxes higher to brighten our day.

Also brightening our day, seriously, was news out of Longview that the Millennium Bulk Terminal project is still moving forward, despite the best efforts of the Inslee administration to kill it in yet another example of our “green” governor choosing feel-good/do-nothing climate policy over actual jobs in our state. And when it comes to giving up on jobs, it appears that the Seattle City Council has decided that letting special interest groups (especially those with campaign cash) write the laws is better than having them actually do their job and write the laws. Finally, doing the job he is paid by taxpayers is something Jay Inslee usually finds pretty tiring, but in our regular review of his calendar we see that even when the public demands more of his time, he can still fit in plenty of fundraising.
