While many folks’ attention was on the Seahawks first home game of 2016 – or the glorified practice at the Clink, as the case may be – yesterday, hopefully you’ve had a chance to check out Shift’s return after a week off. Our “Blue Thursday” focus was on something that would make anyone blue, Jay Inslee’s debate “performance”.
We also highlighted that it wasn’t just neutral (ie, media) or even partisan observers who weren’t that impressed by Inslee’s face-off with Republican Bill Bryant – even his own campaign donors seem to have tuned him out. Also somewhat tuned out are the Seattle elected officials who are supposed to watching how the city is spending its money – turns out, according to Crosscut, not so much.
And, on a more somber topic, the July unemployment numbers are in, and Washington continues to seriously lag the rest of the nation in jobs returning after the Great Recession. Hopefully that’s something that the next governor can focus on.
Go Hawks.
