What a year it’s been, and the team at Shift thanks you for joining us for the ride. We conclude our list of the 10 most underreported stories of the year by highlighting – since the mainstream media rarely does – the Democrat Party’s obsession with creating a state income tax. You can say this about the liberal legislators who think they can change voters’ minds about an income tax – they are persistent.
Other topics covered today include the also persistent problems with tolling on I-405, with another quarter-million drivers caught up in mistakes in WSDOT’s tolling scheme in the week before Christmas. Mistakes of a different kind were uncovered at the State Patrol, where lack of money (as opposed to perhaps, misplaced priorities) was blamed for a rape kit backlog that’s causing delays in trials for accused sexual abusers. And finally, the fight between big-money extreme environmentalists on one side and grassroots extreme environmentalists on the other spilled out into the open this week, as the grassroots folks turned in signatures for the carbon-tax creating I-732. It’s so sad to see such “public-minded” people fighting over how much tax money should be taken from Washingtonians.
On to 2016…
