The Daily Shift – 12/10/15

Another Throw Back Thursday is winding down, so at Shift we highlighted a few memories worth keeping in mind. The first was how hard the teachers union worked to defeat State Senator Andy Hill in 2014, even using a local teacher to attack him in mailings – a teacher that now waxes poetic about the need for building strong relationships with legislators (evidently, especially Democrat ones). We also reviewed the Jay Inslee’s tax increase history – how every year like clockwork, he comes up with a budget that just requires (nay, demands) new taxes. Unless the media asks him about it, then he changes his tune (as Shift points out). His tax increase appetite almost rivals his desire to talk about climate change, so we thought it worth noting that the NY Times is writing that the UN’s Paris global warming conference may end without any real agreement – despite Inslee showing up there to talk about climate change. And, finally, we take a look at the food fight gaining momentum over next year’s Sound Transit boondoggle – just how many billions can we throw down the light rail tracks?
