The Daily Shift – 01/11/16

Washington’s legislature convened today, and as it has been eloquently put before, “No man’s life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.” Shift previews what Democrats have in store for us this year. Thankfully, while the House and governor’s office are in Democrat hands, the Senate isn’t – and that House majority, at a mere 50-48, is the smallest it has been in years.

Shift also examines a blog post from the head of the Washington Association of School Administrators, wishing that the public was angrier at charter schools for daring to open in the first place. Talk about a crock of something! We also highlight a poll showing that 65% of respondents think voters should have the chance to vote on a constitutional amendment to make the 2/3 rule for tax increases permanent.

Finally, Shift today engaged in a little light-hearted speculation about tomorrow’s State of the State address. Will disgraced State Auditor Troy Kelley show his face? Olympia is all atwitter at the prospect!
