Washingtonians are frustrated over the Democrats go-to solution of raising taxes. That’s why—over and over again—voters approve the 2/3rds rule for voting for new taxes. Unfortunately, Jay Inslee and his fellow Democrats refuse to accept the voters’ decision on this policy.
When asked why voters approved Initiative 1366 during an interview last week, Inslee said voters must not understand the budget process. Using the type of government-knows-best rhetoric that has become all too common among Democrats, Inslee proved he does not respect the will of the people.
Respecting Washingtonians’ will would mean Democrats would have to re-think their big-government agenda, abandoning their push for a state income tax. That’s not something Democrats are prepared to do. Rather, by every indication, the Left is preparing to push another state income tax initiative in 2016.
