The Daily Shift – October 24, 2016

It just wouldn’t be a Monday without another story about the corruption surrounding Sound Transit, this one from Seattle Times about how the campaign is mainly being funded by companies and unions that will rake in the tax dollars that ST3 (Regional Proposition 1) would raise. Evidently you can build a lot of support when you dangle $54 billion in front of some folks.

And evidently you can start a big fight on the Left when you promise to raise billions more in taxes, but won’t let state government have its (major) share. At least that’s the message behind I-732, and why some big greens, and the State Labor Council, oppose the carbon tax.

Finally, President Obama is taking an interest in Washington State politics – or at least in a certain State Senate campaign centered on Mercer Island, on behalf of a “surprisingly unprepared” candidate. Guess being “unprepared” for office doesn’t matter if you’re a liberal.
