News you can use: Nobody’s paying attention on a Friday – let’s give ourselves a raise!

You have to hand it to the Inslee media team – they have learned that releasing bad news just before a three-day holiday weekend is one way to bury it.

So, in case you missed it, Jay Inslee decided that three of his cabinet members deserved raises, in the name of “lean management.”

That’s right – the Democrats are billions of dollars short of meeting their constitutional responsibility to funding public education, but they were able to scrap together a few dollars for department heads at Ecology, Labor & Industries and Revenue, “to address inequities”. Evidently, part of the “inequity” was that Inslee had given raises to five other cabinet officials last September, but overlooked how hard these three were working on “lean management”.

And no, I am not making that up.
