Often, political polls basically affirm what you already know. And that’s the case with the latest Elway Poll of lobbyists evaluating the 2016 legislative session has been released.
As in the past, it doesn’t look good for our green governor.
Once again, Jay Inslee’s performance rating was the lowest among the Olympia players. A whopping 68% of respondents gave him a grade of “D” or “F.” Only 13% of respondents have him a grade of “A” or “B” (for a grade point average of 1.11).
The poll reveals a steady decline in Inslee’s performance rating since his first year in office. His average performance rating went from 1.42 during the 2013 legislative session to 1.34 during the 2014 and 2015 legislative sessions.
As could be expected, Inslee’s lowest rating of an “F” (0.62) came from the people who represent those creating jobs in Washington State, the business community
lobbyists. His highest, if you can call a C- (1.85) ‘highest’, came from public safety lobbyists.
Inslee did not even impress the labor lobbyists who have poured so much money into electing, as they gave him a D+ (1.49).
Notably, Inslee’s grade was lower among more experienced lobbyists (D- or 0.87) compared to first time lobbyists (D+ or 1.62).
All in all, House Republicans earned the highest ratings, followed by Senate Republicans, House Democrats, and Senate Democrats. Jay Inslee came in last (by a lot).
