The race we like to call the (McDermott) Hunger Games just took another turn, benefitting one of the three top contenders. State Senator Pramila Jayapal won the endorsement of Fuse Washington — the far-far-Left lobbying group that benefits from dark money contributions (from folks like California billionaire Tom Steyer).
Fuse Executive Director Aaron Ostrom stated, “We are excited about having Pramila Jayapal in Congress… She is a passionate progressive who brings people together to make change possible.”
Of course, the race to replace retiring U.S. Representative Jim McDermott is really about determining which candidate is the most liberal. Given her string of endorsements from big labor and whacky-Left groups like Fuse, that person increasingly looks like it is Jayapal.
Jayapal has faced a few campaign challenges during this primary. For one, she does not actually live in the district she wants to represent. And, for another, she faced accusations of religious and racial discrimination from a former campaign employee.
Alas, these factors have not impeded her support from the far-far-Left. So, the (McDermott) Hunger Games continue with a front-runner who has endorsed Bernie Sanders for President.
