Liberal Lie #9: Republicans caused a near state government shutdown last year

An oft-repeated lie – because it plays so well with the national Democrat Party attacks – is that Republicans were the ones responsible for last year’s legislative brinksmanship.

The lie was repeated again just yesterday, in a State Labor Council screed on the evil intent of some legislators who are actually trying to improve our state’s economic competitiveness by reforming the nation’s most expensive workers compensation system.

Setting aside for a moment the War on Jobs focus of the State Labor Council whenever the question of improving our state’s economy might impact their desire for more dues money, what sets this lie apart is that the Democrats tried to force a shutdown, Jay Inslee’s administration was preparing for a shutdown and ultimately the session dragged on because various Democrats would not cut their vacations to come back and vote.

This is what you can expect from the liberal attack machine outed by public radio yesterday: when Democrats are at fault, blame Republicans, and hope no one notices.
