Elizabeth Warren’s camp has denied that the Massachusetts senator will run for president in 2016. Other darlings of extreme liberals have done the same. Yet, left-wing media outlets are still hard pressed to rally behind Hillary Clinton who is seen as not extreme enough—an incomprehensible viewpoint for the sane everywhere.
Seemingly hoping that push back from loud voices will propel Clinton’s agenda towards economic populism, liberal media outlets have been condemning everything from the former Secretary of State’s relationship with Wall Street to her hawkish voting record while in the Senate.
After the Republicans’ election sweep, the Democrats witnessed first-hand the dangers of complacency among voters. Politico reports that many on left see a more competitive primary field as an opportunity to drum up more activity for the Democrats which could, in turn, crank out more numbers for the presidential election.
Other far left media outlets see 2016 as a chance to advance their increasingly strident agendas and force candidates to adopt these ideas or face their wrath. The Nation—a weekly journal with an influential voice on the left —wants to see the more populist wing of the Democrats succeed in 2016, and are willing to go forth with or without Clinton as the Democrat’s presidential candidate.
So, who do these extremists prefer to Clinton?
Outgoing Maryland Gov. O’Malley is laying the groundwork toward a run. During his term as governor of Maryland, O’Malley raised the taxes so high that voters—in deep-blue Maryland—elected a Republican governor and handed control of the state Senate to the GOP. Another name being tossed around is Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Arguably the most influential primary-voting segment of the Democrat Party (the extreme left) is seriously considering supporting a man who “styles himself a ‘Democratic socialist.’” To put that in perspective, these Democrats are prepared to join Socialist Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant in supporting Sanders.
Recent developments have made it even clearer that Democrats are becoming increasingly out-of-touch with everyday Americans. They are simply not listening to the message voters sent in the 2014 midterm elections.
