Appearing on MSNBC’s PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton, Jim McDermott reiterated his support for Seattle’s $15 minimum wage ordinance. However, in doing so, McDermott offered a telling—and true—observation. McDermott,
“….If the voters come out in this election and their first question to their candidates is, do you support an increase in the minimum wage, you’re going to start to see some people get pretty antsy. Right now people say well, they’re quiet back home, so it must not be bothering them. But if the people start letting this them know that it’s bothering them, you’re going to see some people wake up tomorrow and say what’s going on? Seattle? I hope that’s not going to go on.”
