SHIFT is getting under Jay Inslee’s skin with the simple truth. The Governor’s office responded to SHIFT’s investigation into Inslee’s extreme environmental agenda with claims that our facts are false.
Before a discussion regarding SHIFT’s findings on The Dori Monson Show, a member of Inslee’s staff wrote an email to Monson claiming,
“The $1+ cost estimate has already been debunked by the exact same consultants the Republicans claim to get the number from,” said the email from the governor’s office. “That’s because there are a million different ways to design a clean fuel standard that would result in wildly different cost variables.”
You can read SHIFT’s response here.
David Postman, Communications Director to Inslee, also responded to a KTTH article relaying SHIFT’s findings earlier today. Postman told KTTH that SHIFT’s investigation is “nonsense.” Postman,
“The governor has been upfront about his position on a clean fuel standard…He said it at a televised legislative hearing in October of last year and then again on live TV from the Pacific Coast Collaborative. He has been consistent in saying it is a valuable tool for fighting impacts of climate change.
“But he has also said he doesn’t have a specific plan yet. And this is what the debate has been about. Critics worry that there is a plan that we won’t share. That’s not true. And that’s why the governor has said it’d be wrong to talk about any costs associated with a clean fuel standard. And in no way are those costs a tax.”
Pressing questions for Postman:
Why is it “wrong to talk about any costs associated with a clean fuel standard” if Inslee believes and “has been consistent in saying” that a low carbon fuel standard is “a valuable tool for fighting impacts of climate change”?
Doesn’t Inslee’s “consistent” approach toward the implementation of a low carbon fuel standard make discussion on its potential costs to the everyday Washington State resident imperative?

It makes me very sad that David Postman went to work for Jay Inslee. What a misuse of talent and skill.

It makes me very sad that we have such a goose-stepping liberal commie as a governor. I thought Gregoire was a devil, but Inslee has stepped it up several notches.
