Inslee’s fundraising desperation means turning to disgraced Democrats for help

Jay Inslee knows that he will have to take a break from fundraising – and focus again on his very hard day job of being governor – this Saturday.  That is when state law invokes a fundraising freeze for state officials, 30 days before the start of the legislative session.

So, you can imagine how desperate things are at the Inslee campaign, trying to come up with any compelling reason for somebody to give money to his campaign. After all, job performance is certainly not going to generate much.

The first of today’s two (so far!) fundraising pleas was from Donna Brazile, a Democrat National Committee officer with no discernible connection to Washington State to give her credibility. However, like previous Jay Inslee fundraisers, she did resign in disgrace from a very public position, so that evidently put her on the list of go-to folks.

In Brazile’s case, it was the Michael Dukakis campaign back in 1988, for lying to the media about soon-to-be-President George H.W. Bush. That gives her something in common with other Inslee fundraisers, such as:

Elliot Spitzer, who resigned as NY governor for paying prostitutes, then later hosted fundraiser for Jay;

Van Jones, who resigned as a White House “environmental” advisor because he’d publically suggested that the Bush administration didn’t stop 9/11 from happening because it wanted war, then later was the keynote speaker for a Jay fundraiser.

Guess Inslee can’t always count on the Democrats providing g the “A” team to help on his campaign, so he has to reach a little lower.
