Last week Jay Inslee decided to get back into the business of governing – sort of – after spending only eight hours on the job during the previous week in the middle of August. However, it’s hard to say that our “green” governor was truly putting in any overtime. So, without further ado, here’s the Friday Funny that is Inslee’s schedule.
Shift gives Jay credit for his busiest “work” day since the legislature adjourned back in April, as on Wednesday, August 24, he actually spent a day in his Olympia office putting in six-and-a-half hours of official business. The job that day entailed meeting with his chief of staff, his executive team, and various ceremonial duties. And that was on the heels of over fours on Tuesday flying over to Spokane and back, to tour the wildfires in that region.
So, Jay was able to spend more time – 11 hours – in just two days working than he had in the previous 10 days. And, that was more official activity than he had put in during any of the previous three weeks.
However, it didn’t last.
Instead, just as he had that Monday, Jay put in less than 90 minutes of time on official business on Thursday, and then took a three-day weekend off with no governing whatsoever.
However, he was able to squeeze in evening fundraisers on four different nights, so it wasn’t like Inslee didn’t keep busy raising campaign cash during his week.
