Inslee admits he’s in trouble

Jay Inslee has admitted he might be in trouble. But, not for the reason most people might immediately expect.

This week, a poll revealed that our green governor’s favorability numbers are sinking. Just 30% of Washington State voters are inclined to re-elect Inslee.

Well, Inslee appears to have received that figure as bad news—as he should. So, like any reasonable politician, he decided to re-double his fundraising efforts. Only, he did it in a way that completely misses the point.

A fundraising email with the subject line, “We could be in trouble,” reads,

“Imagine this scenario: A right-wing super PAC floods Washington state with ads attacking me and my record. As a result, my opponent gains in the polls and raises record amounts of money…

“Suddenly we — along with everything we’ve fought for, from better schools to cleaner air — are in trouble…”

Inslee doesn’t appear to understand the meaning of the recent poll. Only a mere 30% of Washingtonians would re-elect him. That means the majority of Washingtonians do not care for Inslee or his policies. It’s not Inslee’s successes – or lack of them –  that are in trouble. It’s his re-election chances.

And, it’s not a “right-wing super PAC” that Inslee should be worried about. After all, a flood of attack ads against Inslee and his record is not what it hurting Inslee right now. It’s him. It’s his policies.

Inslee would stand a better chance if he re-considered his commitment to creating a state income tax, his obedience to a variety of special interests and his obsession with his extreme “green” agenda. But, of course, he won’t.
