The latest edition of the “Friday Funny” series (it would be a lot funnier if taxpayers weren’t paying for it) exploring how Jay Inslee spends his “work” day exposes the lengths his desperation to fundraise for his re-election campaign takes him. Here’s what our green governor “work” habits looked like last week (hint: a big chunk of his time wasn’t actually spend in Washington State):
Monday, June 20th
Jay Inslee on “personal time” in Seattle. In other words, he was fundraising. Our green governor spent a total of one hour working on official state business — an hour he spent attending an event for a new business facility in Seattle.
Tuesday, June 21st
Our green governor flew out to Miami where he spent the entire day… you guessed it, fundraising. Inslee did not work on state business at all.
Wednesday, June 22nd
From Miami, Inslee flew to Washington D.C. for more fundraising. Other than a 30-minute meeting with T-Mobile – which he probably could have done at the company’s Bellevue headquarters – a 30-minute meeting with Oracle, and 30 minute phone call with U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Oregon) to discuss oil trains, Inslee spent the entire day fundraising. Prior to leaving D.C., Inslee even found time to join his former Democrat congressional colleagues for their publicity stunt on the House floor.
In total, Inslee worked 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Thursday, June 23rd
After his strenuous first half of the week fundraising, Inslee only managed to start his work day back in Washington State at 2:15 PM, when he met with his executive staff for 30 minutes. He managed to work for another hour and a half (meeting with School Superintendents) before he clocked out (of doing state business) at 4:15 PM.
Inslee then prepped for his remarks at the fundraiser with Barack Obama for a whopping hour and half before calling it a day at 6 PM.
Inslee’s time on official business – 2 hours, which turned out to be his busiest day of the week working for the taxpayers.
Friday, June 24th
This was Inslee’s “big day” for fundraising. So, our green governor slept in and caught the 9:40 AM ferry from his home on Bainbridge Island to Seattle. Inslee did state work from 10:45 AM to 11:30 AM, then devoted the rest of his day prepping for the Obama fundraiser.
Inslee work at total of one hour and 15 minutes.
Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26th
After taking Saturday completely off – it must have been hard work giving a speech the night before – Inslee attended the Pride parade and a campaign interview with the National Organization Women on Sunday. Unfortunately for him, neither of those two could be classified as official business. In other words, Inslee (once again) did not work on official business over the weekend.
Our green governor worked at total of 4 hours and 45 minutes during the week. Imagine your average worker putting in that type of effort, and expecting a full week’s pay – the boss might not be too understanding.
But, since Jay only answers to taxpayers, he must not be too worried.
Biff says
When I was 10 years old, my paper route took up more than 4 hours and 45 minutes of my week. Go figure.
