Washington State is draining record tax revenues from its citizens and businesses and has augmented Democrat Governor Jay Inslee’s decade-long run of annual tax increases with billions more in federal COVID and infrastructure bailout funds in the last two years. That has resulted in a ballooning state budget – now past $30 billion in government operations spending per year!
Even though the state is now confiscating more of your tax dollars than at any other time in state history – and spending almost double what the state was when he was elected in 2012 – Jay Inslee is demanding even more.
Like a kid in a candy store, Inslee just can’t help himself. The day Inslee took office in 2013, the state’s two-year operational budget was $31 billion dollars (it took over 100 years to get to that size incidentally). Less than a decade later, Inslee’s proposing adding onto a biennial budget that is already an outrageous $62 billion dollars.
Do you feel $31 billion dollars better off under Jay Inslee’s reign of error? Is the state providing you with twice the value for your taxes, or focusing on twice the number of priorities important to you and your family?
Of course not.
Inslee has literally doubled the size of state government since taking office. Inslee’s pork-filled budget costs every resident of Washington close to a $4,000 a year, or to put it plainly, $330 from your paycheck every month to pay for Inslee’s idea of “great government”.
Inslee’s very willing accomplices in this uncontrolled taxing and spending, the legislative Democrats and his big public-employee union friends, are quite happy to go along with the ridiculous, unrelenting ever-expanding budget (after all, it’s not their money). Despite record tax collections this year, Inslee wants to increase spending further on union salaries ($1 billion more for a third raise in less than three years) to pay back his union boss buddies and ensure campaign donations keep flowing to Democrats.
The president of the Washington Education Association, Larry Delaney, said in a statement that the additional funding is “critical to our students’ success.” We can’t tell if he said that with a straight face, since a mask was likely covering his mouth. All this while school districts are sending kids home and school districts have seen over 55,000 students pulled out of public schools because parents are tiring of the same propaganda which the teachers’ unions have been shoveling for years. Not helping the mass exodus is the critical race theory curriculum controversy and hyper-sexualized “sex-ed” soft-porn which school districts have been pushing on the kids.
You would think with all the extra cash flying around, Washington residents might see some tax relief to help with the reduced salaries and job losses due to Inslee’s tyrannical executive shutdown orders, but that’s not the case. Inslee’s budget proposal doesn’t include a tax cut since he believes he knows how to spend your money better than you do. His focus is on climate change and fish tunnels.
We are not kidding. Inslee is (again) prioritizing fish over your family and jobs.
Even a liberal cheerleader like Spokane’s Shawn Vestal, from his opinion column space at the Spokesman Review calls Inslee’s budget proposal “unusually large” which means it must be really bad.
Inslee’s budget features $187 million allegedly “for the salmon”, including yet another study on removing the lower Snake River dams after years of unsuccessful attempts to increase energy costs across the Northwest by ripping out the hydropower-producing dams (top of everyone’s priority list, right?). And, in what Inslee must consider one of his most important legacy items, he wants to start a $100 million per year subsidy for rich people to buy expensive electric cars.
Washington residents are struggling to pay the bills because of Inslee’s mandated government shutdowns and the state is living high on the hog with record tax collections. It’s two entirely different worlds (especially considering Inslee hasn’t lost a day of his $180,000 pay since the pandemic started, despite his pretty uneven job performance and attendance). It sure seems like Inslee is promoting this multi-reality state, one where public employees collect extra paid vacation, salary increases, and improved benefits while the rest of the peasant citizens work long hours to pay for everything the state is spending.
Wake up Washington, Inslee and his Democrat allies are wasting your money and they just can’t help themselves. It won’t stop until they are held accountable (did someone say ’22 elections?).
