The Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy—a coalition of extreme “green” groups—announced its plan push an initiative in 2016 earlier this month. The details have yet to be released. However, a press release from the alliance claims the initiative’s focus would be to hit our economy by charging businesses that extreme “green” activists don’t like “a fee for each ton of carbon pollution they emit.”
As Shift reported, the initiative would make Jay Inslee’s new carbon rules that much more harmful. That means more damage to our state’s economy while, of course, benefitting special interests groups—which is the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy’s primary objective.
Despite the fact that initiative has yet to be written, the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy does not appear to have any problem with gaining supporters. Already, according to an email recently sent by the extreme greenies, over 900 people have signed up to gather signatures for the initiative. The goal is 1,000 signature gatherers. The email attempting to gain volunteers admits,
“While the specifics are still being determined, the Alliance is developing an initiative to direct funds into clean energy projects, and the industries, workers and communities burdened most by the effects of pollution…”
The fact that 900 people have already signed up to gather signatures for a non-existent initiatives reveal a great deal about the liberal Seattle mindset: don’t bother me with facts, we have to act now!
Meanwhile, Carbon Washington has officially collected enough signatures for Initiative 732—a carbon neutral plan—to submit it to the Secretary of State’s Office. Extreme greenies do not support I-732 because it is a “revenue-neutral” plan, meaning it would not fill state government coffers with more money.
