The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) has a “Dirty Dozen” list for its top election-year targets nationally, and Washington State Senator Doug Ericksen (Ferndale) is on it. Jay Inslee headlined a breakfast held by the Washington Conservation Voters (WCV)—the state branch of LCV—revealing Ericksen as a member of the list.
According to the Seattle Times, when Ericksen’s image appeared on a projection screen, environmentalists in attendance “booed and hissed.” WCV leaders then proceeded to list Ericksen’s wrath-inducing infractions. Shannon Murphy, WCV’s president, told the crowd, “Honestly his list of anti-environmental actions is so appalling, I didn’t know where to start today.”
During the breakfast, WCV leaders also “boasted that they helped elect Inslee as “the nation’s greenest governor” in 2012.” Their goal for this year is to “hand him a sympathetic Legislature to further his climate-change agenda.” Democrats must net two seats to gain a Senate majority that would lend Inslee “a sympathetic Legislature.” Ericksen is one of the targets to achieving a “sympathetic Legislature” goal.
There was no word on how many of the attendees walked or took transit to the downtown breakfast, given their dislike for all petroleum products.
Biff says
The number of attendees who walked or took transit would be ZERO. They don’t want OTHER people to use petroleum products. Like jacking up the gas tax doesn’t effect the price of food or everything else about daily life. And even if Washington state reduced it’s “carbon pollution” to nothing, it would do absolutely nothing to the climate, possibly even a negative effect with trees stunted with lower growth, starved for “carbon pollution” FOOLS
