On Monday, the Washington State House of Representatives kicked off the 2015 legislative session with traditional opening ceremonies—including the administration of oaths for House members and election of House officers. At the end of the ceremony, legislators delivered a message from Jay Inslee to Democrat House Speaker Frank Chopp saying—rather ambiguously—that he is “looking forward to good solutions.” Speaker Chopp responded by… laughing which, in turn, prompted the other legislators to laugh.
Now laughing at Jay Inslee’s 15% budget increase proposal, or his multi-billion dollar tax increase plans may be the appropriate response for most Washingtonians. But, was Inslee expecting that from the leader of the state House, whom he is counting on to twist arms to vote for what he calls his “good solutions”?
