Jay Inslee can certainly claim consistency, if not success, in his second legislative session in the Governor’s mansion – he has definitely convinced newspaper editorial boards that he still has some work to do to figure out his job.
The Longview Daily News was particularly blunt over the weekend in assessing Inslee’s job-killing governing approach:
“Sooner or later, we expect that Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will make a decision that will garner our whole-hearted support. But it didn’t happen last week.”
But the Daily News editorialists – and the rest of the state – will keep hoping he eventually does something that generates support outside of a couple liberal Seattle legislative districts. But the writers in Longview didn’t seem to be holding their collective breaths:
“The potential for economic development … seems quite secondary to our governor’s ability to milk a round of applause (and perhaps a few donations) the next time he attends a Sierra Club meeting.”
