California billionaire Tom Steyer has admitted that he is coming in big against Washington State Senators who oppose Jay Inslee’s $1-plus per gallon gas tax scheme, issuing a press release today in Washington, D.C. about his campaign plans. As Shift reported, Steyer has already moved $1 million into his Washington State SuperPAC to fund his attack campaigns.
As reported by The Hill, Steyer will launder money from his Next Gen Climate Action Committee through the Washington Conservation Voters in attacks against Senators Andy Hill and Steve O’Ban. The intent is elect legislators who will support Inslee’s gas tax plans in races in the 45th and 28th legislative districts.
Why is anybody from out of state allowed to “influence” our elections like this? That should be illegal. If you don’t live here you have no business attempting to influence our elections.
