Democrats in Olympia claim they are “fast-tracking” a COVID-19 relief bill for people and businesses across Washington State – but that’s not even close to the truth. Under Democrats’ leadership, Washingtonians won’t see any pandemic relief until the end of February, at the earliest.
That’s more than six months late.
For months, starting last June, Republicans called on Jay Inslee and fellow Democrats to call a special session and bring immediate pandemic relief to struggling Washington families and businesses. They refused, even though the money had been sent to the state by the federal government to help.
Now Democrats are congratulating themselves for “fast-tracking” a relief bill that won’t have any impact until the session is two months old, and the mainstream media is letting them get away with it.
DELAY appears to be Democrats’ agenda because they are taking the same approach to re-opening businesses in our state. SB 5114 – a bill co-sponsored by Senator John Braun (R) and Senator Mark Mullet (D) – seeks to allow businesses to reopen faster than Gov. Inslee’s one-man plan. But SB 5114 appears unlikely to move out of committee – thanks to Senator Sam Hunt (D), chair of the Senate Committee on State Government & Elections and toady for his party’s leadership.
Sign our petition to demand Senator Hunt and fellow Democrats allow a floor vote on SB 5114, the bill to reopen Washington businesses faster.
Our businesses deserve more – they deserve a chance to have their elected representatives vote on SB 5114.
