After announcing an executive order that sets Washington State on course for a carbon tax, Gov. Inslee sent a letter to his supporters revealing his commitment to his plans. Inslee asks supporters to stand with him by signing a petition.
We have key parts of Inslee’s letters… and our annotations below. Inslee,
“Today, I issued an executive order (I bypassed the state Legislature to implement a tax) that addresses everything from clean fuels and carbon emissions to energy efficiency and coal-by-wire (carbon tax and overly burdensome environmental regulations)…
“This executive order sets us up to be among the first states to implement a comprehensive program to curb carbon pollution (it’s a never-been-done-before-for-a-reason type of policy)…
“Today’s executive order gives Washington the opportunity to set a historic precedent that will allow other states to follow us into a clean energy future (Washington State will become a guinea-pig experiment to study the economic aftermath of a destructive carbon tax)…
“Over the course of the year, my administration will work with state and industry leaders to establish carbon limits and find other solutions to the climate crisis (I want to implement a carbon tax this year)…”
