Shift is back on its semi-regular schedule, have vanquished an October cold (for now). Now if only we could find a way to convince reporters to actually do research when looking at the ways that Democrats launder money into their campaigns every election season.
Today we highlight a particularly poor piece from the Puget Sound Business Journal, which attempts to give Jay Inslee a pro-business glow by (inaccurately) highlighting a few corporate contributors. Unfortunately for the truth, the reporter didn’t bother to look at how millions from decidedly non-business donors actually drive Inslee’s re-election campaign.
We also put a spotlight on the top attack PAC for the state’s legislative Democrats, the New Direction PAC which has topped over $4 million raised for the year – and is shoveling almost all of those millions against Republican candidates. Also wasting millions of dollars are the candidates in the open-seat race to succeed Jim McDermott in Congress. In our latest installment of the Hunger Games, we fill you in on the first attack ad of the game – and how tame it is.
And in a bit of good news, we provide the latest out of Longview, where business and labor are working together to try and build the Millennium Bulk Terminals – despite the interference from extreme environmentalists, who view this as just another fundraising opportunity in their war on coal (and any form of energy production that they don’t profit from).
