Team –
Last week was one for highlighting liberal bullies – from the Teamsters trying to intimidate Eastern Washington elected officials for wanting to be open with their constituents, to Kshama Sawant trying to tell real economists how to do their job, to UNITE HERE trying to impose its will on Seattle hotels with an initiative about “safety” – it was a theme that just happened to come to the forefront.
Also popping to the surface last week was a reversal by Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) staff – initially Sound Transit was in trouble, and then Seattle’s favorite light-rail boosters were out of trouble, for using taxpayer resources to help out the campaign seeking $54 billion in new taxes for Sound Transit. The Seattle City Council, which had previously reversed itself on support for a new North Precinct police headquarters, found out that just buckling to special-interest pressure wasn’t enough – protestors also want the council to change several rules regarding policing, like having enough officers, providing those officers with personal protection, etc.
Something far more predictable was our weekly look at Jay Inslee’s official calendar – as he continues to work very little for the generous salary provided him by taxpayers. And it appears he doesn’t even use his free house/mansion in Olympia very much – so maybe that could be rented out to generate some additional revenue to pay for the big pay raises he negotiated with his campaign’s mega-donors at the state employees union.
Enjoy tonight’s debates – Trump/Clinton on the undercard, with Bryant/Inslee in the main event.
