The Daily Shift – August 4, 2016

The Dog Days of August continue, and the primary vote-count is dragging into Day 3. But, Shift still has a job to do shining a light on the news of the day, and today it’s pointing out that the Washington Education Association has filed yet another lawsuit to close public charter schools in our state. Guess the union bosses just can’t allow the people of the state to have a say in how our schools can provide more options to poor students.

Disturbing news that Washington State’s job growth in “advanced industries” (read, the kind you want to have to make a state’s economy keep growing) ranks 50th in the country also made the rounds. Too bad Gov. Jay Inslee is more focused on raising taxes and issuing new state regulations to notice that ‘We’re #50!’.

And, among the new regulations which the Inslee administration is seeking to impose on Washington businesses is one intended to make fish safe to eat (as if they are not already) – by requiring technology advances that may not currently exist. Oh well, at least that might create some government jobs Inslee can brag about.
