Last Week Today – June 12, 2016

Team –

Last week, we highlighted what’s at stake with the three State Supreme Court races this year. This year every justice seeking re-election will face an opponent- the first time that’s happened since the 1990’s.

One reason for this positive change is that all three justices facing re-election are unabashed, ideological liberals who pursue an activist agenda. That will inspire challenges.

Another reason is all the controversial decisions that have come out of the State Supreme Court recently. This also will inspire challenges.

From overreaching its constitutional powers and trying to tell the state Legislature how to spend the state’s money (and holding it in contempt for not buckling under to its mandates), to striking down voter-approved public charter schools with a plagiarized opinion, and catering to special interests, the sitting Supreme Court justices have imposed decisions that relied on activist, rather than constitution-based, interpretations of the law.

And, people across party lines have had enough.

We’ve exposed the State Supreme Court’s activist tendencies in the past and we’re committed to continuing to do so. You can count on us to shine a light on the State Supreme Court, and the liberal justices who (currently) preside on it.
