Redmond Democrat: City growing as people seek “refugee status from climate change”

Just when you thought extreme “greenies” have said it all, you hear something that reminds you of the absurd ideology you are dealing with. That’s what happened during a Redmond City Council meeting on Tuesday when Democrat Councilmember Kim Allen spoke up urging fellow members to take a stance against Initiative 1366, the initiative to compel lawmakers to put a constitutional amendment for a 2/3rds majority tax increase up for a vote.

Arguments supporting Allen’s resolution generally relied on the lefty notion that voters are too stupid to make the right decision, so government has to tell them how to vote. But, it was Allen’s argument that took the cake. Here’s what she said:

“One of the things, I think, that really makes my decision to support the resolution that I’ve offered is the fact that this state and this city are growing, but the revenue isn’t. And, as more and more people come here, first for great jobs, for great education for their kids, and finally for refugee status from climate change… certainly, we need to plan for that… to handcuff our Legislature… is terrible public policy.”

The resolution passed. So, if you live in Redmond, your city councilmembers either think you are too stupid vote on your own, or they just might think we are living in a post-apocalyptic time and your city is District 13. Either way, congratulations on who is running your city.
