Team –

In case you haven’t heard the good news, Republicans won the budget war! We will have a no new taxes budget that includes a historic reduction in tuition for our state’s four-year colleges.

Jay Inslee was also forced to accept reality and give up opposition to the consumer protection language in the transportation budget that stops him from implementing his gas-price raising fuel mandate by executive order.

But, the fight isn’t over.

Jay Inslee and the Democrats have fired up the spin machine and are trying to claim victory by saying they successfully increased funds for early learning and teacher pay. What they fail to mention is that both were in the Senate Republicans’ initial budget that was passed in April.

In reality, the liberal Democrats did not get their radical agenda through. Cap and tax, the capital gains income tax and the fuel mandate will be going nowhere this session.

The bottom line is that we are shifting the conversation in Olympia.

We uncovered Jay Inslee’s plan for a fuel mandate and reported on it extensively. And because of your help, we were able to inform Washingtonians of Jay’s fuel mandate and drove the state senate to stand firm behind a consumer protection clause in the transportation budget.

Because of your support, we’ve been able to make a difference.

Please help us continue our work by making a contribution of $3 or more. Help us meet our month-end goal so we can budget for the remainder of the year.

With deep gratitude,

Matthew, Josh and the rest of the Shift WA Team
