Obama: Policies off the ballot, “values and ideals” on the ballot

Perhaps realizing that voluntarily placing “every single one” of his policies on the ballot is a terrible idea, President Obama is now changing his tune. The Wall Street Journal,

Last week, Mr. Obama said that while he’s not on the ballot this November, his policies are – “every single one of them.” …

David Axelrod, a former senior White House adviser and a key architect of Mr. Obama’s political rise, called the president’s comment “a mistake” in an appearance last Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

At a fundraiser Thursday night at the Brentwood home of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Mr. Obama appeared to attempt a course correction.

“My name’s not on the ballot,” he said. “But our values, our ideals and the things that generations have fought for to make this a fairer, more prosperous, a more equal, more just place” are.
